So, it's been two months since my orchiectomy.  Yay, right?   Psychologically, yes, definitely Yay. :)  Physically, everything is healed and no problem. :)  So, how long before I can realistically expect atrophy/shrinkage of my penis?  I really hate that I still have erections, and I'd much rather not. :(

I had blood taken on Monday morning, so when I receive those test results, I'll learn how much T is still coming from my adrenal glands.  I have an abnormal kidney (renal fusion / horseshoe kidney) and ordinarily  the adrenal glands sit atop each kidney.  I'm worried I may have excess adrenal tissue causing this, or maybe my body is still generating DHT from what little T is there?  I guess I'll have to be patient, and see what the blood tests say.  If something's still out of whack, I might have to start taking finasteride or dutasteride again. :(

Hi hon,
thanks for your update.
* If something's still out of whack, I might have to start taking finasteride or dutasteride again *

More likely Spiro if you ask me. At least for a short while...
I'm also interested since SRS post-op can also create issues with "inner" erectile tissue getting overexcited, never mind a jumpy clit.

Please keep us updated.

Thanks,
Axelle

hello Cait , just relax its takes some time for you to see some results maybe 6 months or so when you least expect it is when you will notice a change . Whoever told you that erections will be null and void from now on was WRONG  I had my Orchie for  many many YEARs many and I was able to do both have an erection and an O,and , thank god I was still able to it allowed me to be able to be quite functional with results now at 6 months post .

Do you mind me asking how many years and how those years affected SRS results?  Sorry if that's bold, but I'm having a horrid time with HRT and an orchie might be my only answer.  And I'm probably years from SRS as well.  I've got the name of a local doctor who does the orchie and preserves all tissue that would be used for SRS, but was told by many people that it's still not a good idea because it'll probably atrophy if you don't have SRS within a year and it'll be useless anyway.

Then again, I was also told my HRT doc is totally against orchies, just as she's against anything but her two HRT regimens... *le sigh*

Thank you for responding, Suigeneris. :)  It's not that anyone told me they would be null and void.  I only hoped they would be reduced even moreso than what I experienced taking cyproterone for a year.  I would hope that any post-surgery adrenal spikes in T level should have passed by now.

My blood test results arrived in the mail today.  My E level is 68.6 pg/mL, in the low normal range.  My T level is 10.9 ng/dL, or as low as is humanly possible.  I guess I'll just have to wait a couple of more months and see how these undesirable "symptoms" play out.

Hi Zoe ,I  had my orchie  about 30 yrs before I had my SRS , I am 6 months post and my healing has gone quite well , I am at full depth ( only use #4 ) , very sensate and fully funtional in all aspects . I am not a doctor and I dont want to steer you in the wrong direction everyone is different  ( you should ask your doctor what she or he prefers ) but I did have several consults with 6 of the top surgeons ( all in the us except 1 canadian , 1 Thai )and they all agreed to take me on but I opt. with The McGinnster :)) (VERY HAPPY WITH MY CHOICE ) @ Cait my pleasure :)) , dont worry you will def. see a change when you least expect it one day you are going to wake up and take a
look at yourself and realize that some big changes have occured :)) and the iissues that you are presently having with the unwanted bumps heheehehe will def decline .

Well, I turned 53 last month, and to be honest, I've never expected to receive any hugely dramatic changes since I started HRT so late, at age 50.  Surprisingly last night, my wife suggested I was beginning to form hips!  I guess that's where the boob fairy has been hiding, working very slowly around my hip bones to add a few fat cells every month.  ;D

Thanks for your response, Sui! ;D  Still debating whether I should do it, but I'm leaning that way.  Depends on the type of job I can find in the near future.
