my parents are against me getting on T, they say im not old enough to make decisions and to do "drugs" and i try to make the argument that every other guy my age (cis guys going through natural puberty) is already on T and there are not any significant side effects. my parents say they want to talk to a doctor (endo) but they wont even get me with a therapist that will write me a T letter. i really want to go to my friends doctor as she is trans and seems really nice and insightful plus she is a therapist endo and GP. however my mother says its to far away, but its a lie she is just making excuses. does anyone have any ideas on how to convince my parents?

Print out a bunch of info. Show them videos. Have your friend's doctor write a letter. Say you want to see a therpist for other reasons.

You might try connecting them with the parents of other guys your age (or younger, if age is their big issue) who are on T. You could probably find some online, or you could see if there is a local PFLAG chapter that has meetings. Maybe talking to someone else's parents would help.

Are you on your parent's insurance or were you looking to pay out of your own pocket?  Are you willing to find someplace else to live?  When one is under 18, under the parent's roof and likely on their insurance, it greatly changes the ground rules...and being a minor also changes the ground rules even if they DID agree to cover the cost of a shrink.

i tried showing them videos sending them info they still think im to young my friends are on T and i showed my mother the doctors website. they dont really have a problem paying out of pocket, they where prepared to pay out of pocket for my first therapist but didnt have to as he ended up only treating my adhd which my family insurance covers.

Do you have a way of getting to an appointment on your own and setting it up, like taking a bus or something? Maybe if you could find a way out there then your mother wouldn't be able to say it is too far away.
