I've been out to my mum for about 3 months now and we've probably only had about 4 conversations about it but the last couple of nights she's approached me on the subject, a bit drunk I might add but talking clearly. She is actually encouraging me to go ahead with it. She was saying that if this is what is gonna make me happy then go for it. Dont hold back.  She seemed more sure about it than me! I really appreciated this. The only issue she has is the name changing. She said she doesnt think she could ever call me by a different name but if the biggest issue I have with her then ive got it pretty easy. At the moment where I am in my life theres so much going on that jumping straight into hormones, etc would just bring too much stress on me so i'm gonna hold off a bit until thse issues are a bit more clearer before I go down the transistion path but all is pretty good. My mum seems to really want this which is pretty amazing.

That's awesome! Take your time with it. =] Do what you feel is right when you're ready to do it.

Congrats on acceptance from your mom! =D

My Dad did that to me once. He lives in Scotland and I live in Indiana. He was sober too at the time. :P
But it was about 3 years ago that he flat out asked me why I hadn't transitioned yet. I was kind of stunned. he went on about how I needed a plan, start saving for it, etc. And I was just too dumbfounded to even respond. My mind was screaming 2 things.

1: Who the hell are you? and what have you done with my Dad?

2:He's actually been researching this?

After all the crap that parents seem to pull on their trans children for the majority of posts I had ever read, it was so extraordinary.

It took $38,000 of plastic surgery before my mum used my name, which was when I puked blood everywhere - what a great memory!!!

Good luck with everything, so happy your mum is standing by you.

Wow! That's great news! I'm very happy for you.

It took my parents 3 years before they started coming around.  Now at 6 years since beginning my transition, our relationship is better than ever.
