I wasn't sure where else to post this, so hopefully it's the right place.

Anyway, I've been looking for a room to rent for the past month/month and a half and haven't really had any luck. I've been mainly looking on Craigslist and Kijiji so I can screen for queer/trans-friendly places, but the well's running dry in that regard. I put my own ad on there, but the response was minimal.

I have considered renting a bachelor place but I have 2 issues when it comes to that; 1) I'm living at home so I don't really have any references (I do pay rent, however), and 2) I'm on social assistance so I wouldn't consider my financial situation stable (it wouldn't completely cover rent and living expenses, though I could manage for a few months from the savings I have). I haven't applied for a bachelor place because I imagine my application would be immediately rejected.

The worst part is I live out in the middle of nowhere (literally 3 hours from where I want to live; Toronto, in case anyone is looking as well  :D), so it costs me about $40 every time I make a trip into the city for a showing(s). There's really nowhere around here for me to get a job because I don't drive (I had to move out here with my Mom when my original housing plans fell through), and there's no transit.

I could really use some outside opinions/advice, because I don't really know what to do.

Thanks for reading. :)

Hanna, am I wrong, but I have a vague recollection you are near Peterborough?

I was, yeah, but my Mom moved out in the country (Apsley), and I didn't really have anywhere else to go at the time so here I am.

How did you know that?  ???

A post, I think. I remember you had some spirited conversations with Mahsa the Disco Shark.

Let me go back and check.

I've waited about a month since seeing my doctor (and about 3 weeks since my visit to the crisis centre), and haven't heard anything back. I guess overall a month isn't exactly a long time, but it's more time that new facial hair grows in and any scalp hair falls out, and it's more money down the line.

What I need to know is if there is any Endocrinologists in Toronto that will let me book an appointment without a referral and if they will take informed consent.

I'm not exactly getting much support around here (Peterborough, for anyone who knows where that is), so I feel like if anything is ever going to get done, then I'll need to do it myself.  :-\

I have been in your part of Canada only once, getting as far north as Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie.  I remember looking up Peterborough's location.  I was just a lurker in 2011, when I saw the post, trying to find information on support groups and endos,

Haha, yeah, I've been there. I went out to Vancouver a couple of years ago and passed through there. Did you see Sudbury's giant nickel?
