A SIX-year-old boy placed in the care of a lesbian foster couple was dressed in girl's clothes and the humiliating pictures were posted on the couple's Facebook page.

One of the women was preparing for a sex change to become a man at the time, while her girlfriend was undergoing fertility treatment.

Seriously folks -- -it's situations like that cause us more grief.   Even if the boy wanted to dress in girls clothing -- don't post them on the internet --- total violation of foster care rules.  They aren't legally your child.

Gotta love this reader's comment:
Quotethis raises serious doubts on same sex couples rearing children. Are these two attempting to BRAINWASH this child ???? VERY VERY POOR FORM....

And why was this child (plus siblings) in care in the first place? The biological parents are alleged to have abused these kids. Now, I'm not one to assume that the allegations are true, but millions of kids are rightfully taken away from their hetero parents and put into foster care.

This raises serious doubts that heterosexual parents can raise kids.

Oh, and if one of the parents is getting ready to transition, chances are pretty strong that he's not a lesbian. Or a she.

The issue is two adults sexuall abusing a child.

The rest is irrelevant.

We might try this for example:

Black people dress boy in girl's clothes and post photos on Facebook

Muslims dress boy in girl's clothes and post photos on Facebook

Disabled couple dress boy in girl's clothes and post photos on Facebook

Spurs supporters dress boy in girl's clothes and post photos on Facebook

Or if you really want to essentialise this, then just

parents dress boy in girl's clothes and post photos on Facebook

or even

people dress boy in girl's clothes and post photos on Facebook

Shouldn't have happened, regardless of the status of these people in relation to age, to each other, or to the child in question. Unless he asked them to dress him in girl's clothes and post photos on Facebook, in which case it's a (little) bit of a different issue.

I actually though this was an Onion article when I saw the headline. I have no idea why this should at all be considered news. They dressed up the kid in girls clothes for laughs, big deal. Unless the kid was extremely upset about this and resisting, I don't see why this is such a huge issue. It's just fabric!!! I saw another article about how they are making a "political statement" by doing this. Gender expression is not a "political statement". By labeling it as a "political statement", the cis-patriachial society is just pushing us further to the margins by reducing our issues, needs, problems, and experiences into a "political issue" rather than something that affects our lives and the lives of our loved ones.

ETA: Also consider that if they dressed up a girl in a boys' clothes, nobody would care. You know why? It's because women and girls are viewed by our society as being subordinate and inferior. If you dress up a girl in boy's clothes, it's not shocking at all because they are putting her in a superior position by doing so. The reason why vice versa is considered to be so shocking is because they're putting the boy in a subordinate position. This is obviously evident even from the article, which describes it as "humiliating".  That is why people think it's abusive, because as far as the patriarchy is concerned, taking away a male's masculine superior status is pretty much like crucifying him.

Ugh I've had enough misogyny, homobigotry, transbigotry, and gender policing for one day.  ::)

I sort of know what you mean - but I have an issue with people posting photos of other people online publicly without their express permission in any case. I just find it an unacceptable invasion of privacy.

From that point of view, I agree with you. However, the rest of the details (the boy being dressed up in girls' clothes, the couple being a "lesbian" (aka heterosexual with the male partner being trans) couple) are irrelevant and the article is very misogynistic and homo and trans bigoted.

Oh yes, goes without saying :).
