Hello from the Philippines!

Hi everyone! I'm Lana Castillo from the Philippines and I just started HRT 5 months ago. I waited almost two years before I started because I was so afraid back then. I live in a small city with a family who holds quite a conservative  view on such matters.  There are a few transgender individuals in our city but there are no support groups whatsoever. The doctors here have no experience in dealing with transgenders and transitioning. That has lead me to self-medicate, which I know is risky, but that is something I have already thought of over and over again. Fortunately,  I work in a hospital and I personally know two of these doctors and I have already made an appointment with one next week. I'm terrified and i'm not sure what she'll think about it because I don't think she has come across cases like this. It's all worth a try and I hope I can continue with my HRT after the check-up.

Hi Lana, and welcome to Susan's! We're a diverse and friendly bunch here (the head count is over 8000) - get into things as slowly or as quickly as you feel comfortable, I'm sure you'll find plenty of support here.
