Paul

So we have name tags of our agency and we have to wear them whenever we go into any of our buildings so I'm clearly wearing a name tag that says "Paul" and yet 2 particular people (whom didn't know me beforehand) continuously refer to me as female.  What the hell?!  What about PAUL gives you ANY indication of "female".

Ugh sorry, this was more of a ranting post, but it's happened like 3 times in the last two days and I knew you guys would understand better than my cisgendered friends.
It's hard to see through clouds of grey in a world full of Black and White.

Wow, I completely understand where you're coming from. There was this girl in my gym class who kept referring to me with female pronouns even though everyone else used male pronouns and called me Jacob, a pretty much male name not to mention I participate with the other guys. But anyways, one day after she referred to me I was just like "Hey, you know you keep calling me she, right?" and she just had this stupid look on her face like a deer caught in head lights then said "Sorry . . I meant he. . I call everyone she . . he sorry." Never had a problem again lol. I've had to do this quite a couple times, but it's worth speaking up.

What gender are they?

Whatever; they are just fools. Just don't acknowledge them. If they are game playing they want to get a rise out of you. never give it.

If someone called me a guy I wouldn't respond, I would naturally think they where talking to someone else. Same as you should Paul.  Good name, you look like a Paul. Not sure what that means but Paul suits you.

Ditto all this. It took me a while to never respond to "can I help you sir" when I hear it and now they are never talking to me anyway so would be stupid for me to look :)

And yes you do look like a Paul. That's a great name for you.

Paul, keep in mind, even if you didn't know those people beforehand, it is also possible someone told them about you. This has happened to me a couple of times, and it doesn't means you are not passing.

The ONLY people who have misgendered me in the last 3 years have been people who were told/knew beforehand I used to be a guy and "didn't get it".

I'm thinking they probably misgendered you because you're not passable yet, no? Some people, like myself, don't really pay attention to name tags.
