Will an Orchi before surgery help with swelling/healing?

This is something I've been curious about for a while now. I've contacted some surgeons, and they never say much more that the cost benefit isn't worth it. But I've had two friends who've both had surgery recently and one had far less swelling after, and she had a orchi, and the other had major swelling, more than usual. But in any case,  it would make sense to me in the recovery process that having an orchi before srs would help, as there would be two less body parts being removed, but I can never find any proof.

Now I have my consult with Mcginn coming up in Nov and should have a surgery date for about May/June, but if I can have less swelling after surgery I would totally for for an orchi in the meantime, as I havn't even been on a T blocker in over a year due to other medical reasons.

Given how little actual connection there is between the testes and the rest of the body, I'd be surprised if there was any real reduction in post-op swelling after srs..

And 2 people are by no means a large enough sample size.. Different people have different results, at least as far as swelling and recovery times are concerned..

I had orchie about a year or so prior but the op is very big and there will be swelling so get used to it.   besides which a nice prominent female groin woudl'nt be on display all that much would it?

Well I am not in contact with a lot of post Op's, so I brought my questions here, and I'm still hoping for a possible definite answer. I kind of had the feeling that two isn't enough to come to any conclusions, because the other friend had a ton of swelling way more than normal. But an orchi helping with swelling is something they have been discussing with other people as well. But yeah everyone's different I know a few people who've had orchis and only one had major swelling after that.

And yes I am aware there will be swelling and there's nothing I can do about that, it's not like I haven't been in pain before. But the swelling the one friend had effected her healing greatly.  And that's not something I want to get used to.

Given what I know about the actual procedure, I can say with some certainty that it's unlikely to cause a significant amount of difference.. The most invasive/traumatic part of it is actually gaining access to the teste's to remove them... the actual removal simply requires a few snips and a suture or 2...

That would make sense

I had an orchi about 9 months before my SRS (with McGinn).

I was not sure at the time that I would have SRS, but I wanted to make a positive statement about myself.

When I decided to have SRS and talked with Dr. McGinn, she said that it made very little difference as far as healing and swelling went.  The testes are the first thing removed in the procedure and is actually the most minor part of genital reconstruction.

There is some concern about having scrotal shrinkage as a result of an orchi, but if the SRS is within a year or two there is no real problem.

If you intend to have SRS, save yourself the added expense of an orchi and have it all done at once.  There is no real benefit.
