The Lincoln Conspirators

I have become interested in Abraham Lincoln and today I read about the appalling treatment the 'conspirators' received in prison.  It would seem that torture is inherent in government circles.   Had Secretary Stanton known about 'waterboarding' he would certainly have used on the conspirators.
