Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) will increase the trans population of the United States because:

    more will come out earlier because of strong trans role models like Chaz Bono
    the show's national exposure will cause transphobia to be lessened in society, lessening the fear of transitioning.
    people will feel less guilt and shame at because they are trans

Unlike Dr. Keith Ablow, I don't think that is a bad thing. Trans people have existed throughout history , even when it's risky to be trans (to the point of death).
