Although I have purposefully chosen my display picture to be one that with the light, looks like I have normal, flattened scars, I have developed keloid scars. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
I know it is more common in people with darker skin, and being mixed raced (and having formed a small keloid scar years ago from a piercing) I was expecting it. To be fair, with my left side scar, almost 2inches of it is flat, but the rest is more prominent. One part of my right scar is like thick pinky-purple cord. Im just abit self conscious of it.
I spent 3 months doing no exercise at all, in an attempt not to stretch the scars.
I know over time they may calm down and fade abit, but I do accept they wont ever go away.

My other point of slight self consciousness, is my left nipple, well, areola, has stretched, lengthways too the point it is about 1cm longer than pre op! :/ I have spoken to who I see at my clinic and she has agreed we can discuss having a revision, so thatll sort that badboy out.

I don't know if it's true, or if it'll even be helpful. But a tatoo guy once said that keloids from tattoos are easily fixed buy running an empty tattoo gun right over it. I personally don't know, just something I heard once.

The center of my scar was very raised and purple so my surgeon injected it with a steroid. After a few weeks it was nearly flat again. Have you spoken to your surgeon about it?

Thanks for everyone's replies.

And Kvall, that is a good point actually. Ive never heard of Hypertrophic scarring before. Id had an angry looking, raised and stretched scar before, and my DR said it was a keloid scar, so Id just assumed that that it was had formed here after surgery. Looking up hypertrophic scarring now, it could be that instead, Im not entirely sure on the difference between the two, myself.
Ive changed my profile pic (temporarily) to a close up of onen of my scars. That way anyone reading this can see if my scarring is normal and I am just being dramatic or not :p (I would just put the photo in this post, but I dont get photobucket etc and how to use sites like that to post pics)
Im not sure if  you can see in the picture, but just above my nipple there is what used to be a raised, stretched scar. It has flattened and faded considerably over the 3 years that I have had it. Im hoping my surgery scars also do in time.

And Logan, England fan are we? :D
Thanks again.
