Hey peeps, how are we all ?  It's been ages since I have had a proper chance to log on and read through the forums so I am refusing to do any more ironing or DIY - that mound of clean laundry and the wobbly floorboards will just have to wait till next weekend now !!

Last weekend I coloured my hair cyber purple !!  Don't freak out - I know it sounds kinda extreme but it really is such a fab colour.  After I was done with the colouring I straightened my hair and to be honest I was not impressed with how it looked.  Don't get me wrong, the colour was fine but it was just the style of my hair, it was down to my shoulders again, the style from the previous cut had been completely lost and I had a fringe that was down to my chin, so into a ponytail it went once more.  I know a ponytail is so much easier than having to straighten/style your hair everyday but generally I feel much more confident with my hair down than I do up.  So I spent a few days pondering what to do, I really wanted a hair cut but wasn't sure on how I wanted it to look.  I can remember one of the first things I did when I decided to transition was to grow my hair long and to be honest I used to be quite happy with straightening my hair every few days.  But recently it's become such a pain, mainly due to the fact that I haven't been sleeping very well and possibly down to having started hormones.  I am so tired all the time and it's often a struggle for me to just to get out of bed after a few hours sleep, never mind having to straighten shoulder length hair.  In the end I decided I wanted it cut short, so I spoke to my best friend who used to be a hairdresser and here is the result ....

When she cut it and I could see so much hair on the floor I was like "OMG - what have I done ??", but I am so chuffed with how it looks.  It's surprising how much confidence your hair gives you when you are happy with how it looks.  I feel it suits me so much more than just having it up in a ponytail and the difference it makes when dealing with other people is amazing.  So many guys that I don't know have smiled at me in work as I have been going about my job and I don't think I have been called "love" so many times when buying bus/train tickets, catching a cab from work to the station or just buying food at the supermarket on the way home !!!!  It's amazing what it has done for my confidence and I can honestly say that I feel like this is the first time in the last 2 years that I am completely happy with my hair  ;D

Hey...cute hair cut!

You look even prettier.

It definitely adds to the perception of feminimity, having well groomed hair.

Becky, that is a very cute hair style for you. I really like it. I have been haveing trouble with my hair and would love to find a style that is shorter and less troublesome. Everyone seems to like my hair the way it is and I do to but it is hard to maintain and it gets really tangled up a lot. My necklaces always get tangled in my hair and I feel like I'm yanking my hair out by the roots when my necklace gets tangled up. You have found a style, really nice. Now, put some zip in it like punk style I guess that is what it is called when it goes in all different directions.

Looks great Becky.  I actually have more confidence putting mine in a ponytail than letting it down because pulling my hair back seem to make my head look smaller.  I also like using a hairclip (like in my avatar).  It seems to have the best of both worlds.

Yes, you look adorable, Becky!  I'm glad that things are getting back to normal.  The new hair cut fits you perfectly IMO, and the haircolor too.

Melissa, didn't you have the same haircolor when we met in Portland?

I like that color very much, don't get surprised if I copy it from you girls... :D

It's close, but I think mine's a lighter shade.

Hey peeps, have been trying to reply since 10:15am this morning but people keep causing getting me to do stuff in work and wont stop bothering me at my desk, grrrr !!  :-\

Thanks for the nice comments everyone, am still  all chuffed with how my hair looks.  Having hair this short is certainlly taking a lot of getting used to, it took me like 50 minutes to straighten it this morning lol, it never used to take that long when it was down to my shoulders !!!!  Suppose that's what happens when you have to deal with having a fringe for the first time though, hehe  :D

Sheila, I know exactly what you mean.  A few people have said in work today that although they really like my hair the way it is now they also liked it when it was longer.  But yes, long hair has that habbit of getting caught in necklaces and mine also seem to be constantly tangled.  Is the hardest part of wanting a new look just deciding how you want it though ?

Great cut, Becky!

Getting called "love" are you now?  You flirt!  lol

If it makes you more confident, it will make you more beautiful, and it obviously has.

Thanks Kristi, but I never flirt at all, lol !!

Okay, well maybe I did with the new guy in work who smiles at me all the time and keeps asking when his first meeting with me is scheduled, but he started it.  ;)

I'm not surprised at the comments, I didn't recognise you either !!! Your new style has taken years off you and really suits you. The office gossips will be going full blast on "Who's the new girl !!!" :)

You are worth the time and effort, enjoy the new look.
