Police version on transgendered's harassment `false, not trustworthy'

CHENNAI : An inquiry at the level of District Judge, ordered by the Madras High Court, into alleged sexual atrocities committed on a teenaged transgendered person at Vyasarpadi police station, has found four policemen, including two sub-inspectors, guilty. "Sampath and Chinna Pandi, both Sub-Inspectors of Police, and Kumar and Ravi, both constables, were the persons who caused the harassment to Pandian," the inquiry report has concluded.

Unable to bear the sexual harassment and intimidation by police, Pandian committed self-immolation in front of the police station on June 12, 2005. He succumbed to burn injuries on June 29, 2006.

Oh... the suffering of poor Pandian.  When I think of how so many of us commit suicide I think of the message that they send. Yes, there is the standard message of worthlessness and depression. But there is also a message that screams "look at what you have done to me".

Our society needs help understanding us. Unfortunately, we aren't very good at explaining our condition.
