Few women seek male sexual partners in the commercial sex sector, and male CSW catering to women seem to be relatively rare -- except perhaps in resort areas. Most male and transsexual CSW tend to cater to other men.

Homosexuals face largely the same range of STI as heterosexuals, and male CSW also have high rates of STI. Indonesia's transsexual waria have shown especially high rates of HIV infection, more than 30 percent in most surveys.
