BALLOT FAIL: SB48 Opponents Miss Petition Deadline

The opponents of the FAIR Education Act admitted today that they do not have enough petition signatures to bring a vote against the law, which mandates age-appropriate LGBT history lessons in California's schools.

According to Stop SB48, the group needed 750,000 signatures by September 30 to get the initiative on the November 2012 ballot. Equality California, which helped usher the bill through the state legislature, announced Tuesday that the antigay group could not garner enough signatures.
