Mind not turning everything into an argument, badkitty?

Jesus christ, just because she's having it paid through insurance and other people aren't doesn't mean she's going to the "wrong" doctor.

I'm not going to McGinn, though I considered her because of geographic constraints, but that doesn't mean I think she's terrible.

Lighten up.

you're missing the whole picture.  people in general have an unqualified belief in the ability of their physician and even more in their surgeon.  it's unilateral across the board.  If a patient is limited (and often times are) due to med insurance "participants", then that belief gets magnified a bit, if you will.
The reality of it is you are not getting the absolute best physician but the psychology says you are and you want to believe with absolute conviction that you have the best physician......when in fact you dont.  we all want to remain safe or have the absolute best outcome/result.
Facts are facts and mcginn is far from being one of the best, i mean WTF, she's only been performing SRS for what, 2, 3, 4 years?  And you wanna compare that to surgeons with 15, 20 years and thousands of procedures?
It's called "ethnocentric".......americans are renowned for it

those are only your opinions. Your assessment on physician "eliteness" is also your opinion.

There is nothing wrong with Thai Physicians and there is nothing wrong with U.S. Physicians. If you love Thai doctors then that's awesome.

But don't put down US docs like it is some type of personal vandetta. And don't come here and belittle those who chose a different doctor than you. That's boasting.

These boards have many different people with many different tastes. Your opinions are valued but they do not constitute fact and to basically say someone would be foolish in choosing a US doctor is not warranted nor is it factual.

Something to think about when considering the difference of everyone here.

I actually chose McGinn before I knew my job would cover SRS, so no, that really doesn't explain it.

ok, good.  what were the defining factors for your choice in a surgeon with very minimal experience?  was it geographic in that new hope is relatively close to lancaster?  was it price in that her prices are a little lower?  was it because she's tg/ts and you think she'll take better care of you having went thru the procedure? or was it because you think she's attractive?

Your response is uncalled for and not even worth answering.

its not turning it into an argument......you cant call a physician with very limited experience "awesome" and "among the best" etc etc simply because she is in the geographic area.....lo siento mucho

uncalled for?  I'm asking why you chose her to do your surgery......of all the surgeons around the world, why did you choose mcginn above all the others?

Or you could not, you know, raise an argument with someone about the surgeon they chose.  Why do you even care?  Seriously?  She's picking a surgeon that works for her and it's working you up into a lather?

Honestly?

Don't sweat it.  It's not your fault.  Sometimes people with baseball bat opinions about surgeons or trans* orthodoxy (and it's virtually always about freaking vaginoplasty, go figure) make a wrong turn at Albuquerque.

It appears that I'm in the unfortunate position of issuing a warning:

Keep it civil, keep it as non-personal as you can. I am watching the thread and appropriate moderators will be called into action as soon as they are available.

That somebody was me. Cut the crap and adjust your attitude. This is a support site, not a battleground. I will not tolerate this petty sniping and arguing and fake innocence. When the ban expires, I will be watching your every move for quite some time to come.

Now, let's get this thread back on track and help each other out, shall we?

Are there any awesome SRS surgeons, therapists, or support groups in the eastern PA area?

The Mazzoni Center is an excellent resource for LGBT people. They also have a very strong transgender presence. They go based on your income level so you wont be shelling out an arm and an leg.

Give them a call when you get a chance. If you live near the Philly area, this place is wonderful. They have everything there for you to get started as well as counselors.

Ill send this via a PM as well in case the earlier convos distracted you. But take a look at this clinic if you live near the area.

Not really, Badkitty has been watched because of her actions which were her pretty much breaking every rule in the Rules of Conduct. When someone breaks these rules, they are "watched."

Thanks for the info guys.

Again sorry that ti had to come down to all this drama. *Proud member of the "No Drama Lama* Clan* :)

To me it's not just about "how realitistic" they make it look but also how much do they care about their patients health and wellbeing and their situations, *ex. "They go based on your income level so you wont be shelling out an arm and an leg.- Annah*

They are all good suggestions and when the time comes I will be looking into them. Thanks again.
