The misgendering of members at Susans will not be tolerated. Regardless of your personal feelings or opinions of someone you will show them the respect of proper pronouns while on this site. If someone declares, presents themselves as female or asks for female pronouns or vice versa, you will respect their wishes during your time here.
Nero was the Forum Admin here at Susan's Place for several years up to the time of his death.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Now tell me that doing it will result in an instant ban. There is no place here for that kind of hurtful talk. Good work!

What about silly cispeople who wander on here by themselves out of curiosity and don't know any better? >.<

There is another site I go to that is just a celebrity gossip site and it IS there a permaban on people who do not identify people by their preferred gender.  After there I went on another crime solvers site and they discussed Chaz Bono and some Born Again Moron decided that she was going to insist that Chaz was a she.  It really pissed me off and I almost got banned off the site for flipping out on the mods and admins for allowing it to go on and on and on no matter how many times people complained.

It's a pet peeve of mine.  I can't imagine it wouldn't be a instapermaban with a swift kick upside the head for good measure, on this site.  >:(

The gender markers are there for a reason. If people don't adhere to them, they should be banned. Any cisgender person should be able to see the marker, and if not the username or post content and know the preferred pronouns of the person they are addressing. That's my stance on it.

i agree. it's common sense.

I believe this is primarily directed at members who ought to know better, not first time visitors off the street, who shouldn't be allowed to do it, either.

Yeah, I'm all against intentional misgendering to be hurtful, but let's not forget that our genderqueer brethren likely don't have a standard male or female preferred gender pronoun, but may prefer something like ze or hir (or to avoid pronoun use altogether).  Even among the transgender community, mistakes happen.  I think the response to a correction would likely be the best indication of one's intentions.

I've noticed that the gender marker here only has 2 options; male or female. It seems there ought to be another option for our androgyne members.

It's a hard-coded flaw in the forum software, can't add extra gender options so non binary identity users have to select "neither" (no gender specified) so show it
