This looks like the solution to a lot of things. If it wasn't for the climate and the visa restrictions I would be seriously tempted, can speak a little Indonesian already.

As far as getting rid of Gender dysphoria, when this country and others like it drop the idea of binary, it may be possible.
Dysphoria is an honest diagnosis when society turns on you. You can make your own distinction as to whether or not you are.
If you don't have a problem with it, then you simply don't have it. But it is as real as the stupid notion of binary.
And it is because of it that it does truly exist.

Just to get the country (world) to agree that Transgender does indeed exist, just as gay does, would be a light year away in progressive thinking.
It's going to take a far larger outpouring from those who Identify and those who should, and those who don't, before anything like that will happen.
It takes far more enlightenment than most Americans are capable at this time.

It makes me happy to see young people show up here. As always, they are the new future.

It was my understanding that dysphoria implies discomfort, and someone like me whose gender and phsical sex don't necessarily correspond in the socially expected way but don't suffer from the disconnect aren't really dysphoric.

I didn't watch the video, though I've read of similar societies.  I think that zero genders would be better.

I keep thinking about the scenario in "Delusions of Gender" where society is divided between right-handed and left-handed people in the same way it is between boys and girls now.  Arbitrary sets of rules and expectations, positive and negative, assigned based on an almost entirely irrelevant physical characteristic.  People who are phsyically left-handed but feel themselves to be right-handers based on their mental outlook and self-image.  Ambidextrous people forced into a category that does not suit them.  Immense social stigma against right-handers wearing lefty clothing.  To me, the scenario really puts gender into perspective.

I watched this a few years ago, my favorite part was the statement about how without the five genders, the world was out of balance, not in harmony.

My life would be a very different and wonderful thing in a culture that accepted me exactly as who I am.
