In a recent post, I spoke about how "coming-out" at work as a transitioning woman was one of the most dangerous times in my life. Why? Because if it had resulted in ridicule and harassment and my colleagues made my life unbearable, I would have killed myself. Point finale. I had an exit plan in place, though I never really thought that my colleagues would let me down. So, I didn't feel I was taking a huge risk. Still, while many colleagues congratulated me and called me courageous, I was scared . . . I was on the edge.
How would you react if a co-worker in your workplace announced that he or she is gender transitioning?
