The revival of "Beavis and Butt-Head" was a ratings hit for MTV.
"Beavis and Butt-Head" returned to MTV after 13 years with an audience of 3.3 million total viewers, the cable network announced Friday.
Not surprisingly, the animated series, that aired at 10 pm ET Thursday, "performed incredibly well with males, who comprised over two-thirds of the audience," an MTV statement said.
The cable show still has a ways to go though in terms of total viewers. MTV's "Jersey Shore" nabbed over 8.78 million viewers at the same time slot for its season four debut in August.

While "Beavis & Butt-head" was culturally relevant back in the '90s, the music videos about which the two made their snide comments are long gone from the network.
To "modernize" the slackers, creator Mike Judge will have his two protagonists make fun of viral videos and MTV reality TV shows, with some music videos thrown in. Don't worry: The potty humor and childish tone will stay the same.

On Thursday, the Mike Judge series Beavis and Butthead was revived for a new generation, and they did not fail to deliver on the modern-day cultural references. The guys took shots at Twilight and Jersey Shore, all while discussing music videos from bands like MGMT.The original show aired from 1993-1997 on MTV, and gained an instant following. Of course, it was also met with criticism for its frequent lewd humor. But as Butthead would say, those people suck.
