Spiro and Itching ?

I've been experiencing slight itching from spiro, and was wondering how do you counteract this effect? Or if anybody else has experienced this?

I didn't notice this myself, but I wonder if you're becoming dehydrated?  Spiro is a diuretic and could be robbing your body of liquids if you're not drinking enough water.  That could make your skin dry and itchy.

Are you sure it's the medication and not some food or contact allergy, is there any time or event pattern you can see?

'Piriton' is effective against itchy skin but induces drowsiness.

  Just keep hydrated.  The spiro did cause me to sweat more that on some days this past summer I had to change my shirt 2-3 times a day.  I did a lot of outdoor work and I have no air conditioning.  The only itching I had were the nipples.  This is normal nonetheless.

I cant really see any pattern. It's really random and lasts for seconds, and only really causes slight discomfort. And that will happen no more than like three times a day. I've only just been thinking it's the sprio b/c I think I have heard other people say similar things. Now that I think about it my skin could just be really dry as well.

Could be a reaction to soap or as you mentioned dry skin.

When I first went on spiro it felt like my skin was crawling. I took benadryl for two weeks and when I stopped the itchiness was over.

As spiro dehydrates the skin, higher dosage should lead to skin irritation and wrinkles due to dryness. Try reduce to minimum effective dosage and see if the condition persists.

I know this post is basically dead but I figured out why I was itching so much. It was because my skin was so dry. After about a week of moisturizing my skin I noticed that the itching basically stopped.
