Need advice about my medication ASAP

Hi everyone,

Since August 2010 I have been self medicating with some oestrogen tablets and also Spironolactone. Recently, I have been given a prescription from the NHS and they wanted to change me from Spirnolactone to Zoladex. At the time, when I spoke to the clinician who recommended the prescription, I asked if I should continue taking Spironolactone for a while after getting the Zoladex implant. He suggested to me that I take it for about 2 weeks, so the Zoladex has chance to take effect.

I realised just today (2 weeks after having my Zoladex implant) that I'm not sure whether I should just suddenly stop taking it or reduce it gradually. I only have a very few Spironolactone tablets left and wouldn't get chance to see my Dr before running out. I went to a walk in clinic and saw a doctor, but he said he wasn't familiar with the medication and wasn't sure himself.

So I'm really hoping there's someone here who has been on Spironolactone and switched to Zoladex (or switched to any other anti androgen I guess) who could give me advice?

Thank you,
Sarah

For any kind of medication you should taper off of it slowly.

probably the best thing you can do is consult a physician

Wavy she already consulted a physician. I agree that it's safest to taper off as slowly as possible with the supply you have.

i have gone cold turkey on Spirnolactone with no effects, i would not worry about it.
