Ok so a little late but since this is the first time i've seen it and it was on adult swim tonight, is anyone else SEVERELY PISSED about that offensive trash of an episode of family guy as i am? It made me cry a little because it was just....cruel! for him to be so FOR the LGBT community he sure has a ->-bleeped-<-ed up way of showing it.....excuse my language by the way i'm sorry :( it just upsets me....what made it worse what some of the comments i saw weren't very trans-friendly and they were comming from a gay guy! that shocked me its like i agree that gender identity and sexual orientation are OBVIOUSLY two VERY different things but its the fact that he was just so rude its like "don't lump us together with those people" like erm...what the hell?! why all the hate? what about your fellow transpeople that ARE gay and lesbian, are you still gonna shun them?...smh....i dont know i just felt like even though we're different from them atleast we belonged somewhere and that made me feel like we're alone.....idk...maybe im just too sensitive

Watch enough episodes of Family Guy and your bound to be offended at some point. If not the creators wouldn't be doing a very good job.

Which particular episode was it that troubled you so much?

Which 1 Quagmire's Dad?

momo you haven't been here in ages. o.O

Michelle.

That would be Quagmires, Mom!!!

I don't really get offended by it to be honest. Family Guy seems to aim to offend anyone and everyone equally using the same old shock-comedy style that isn't to be taken at all seriously, same as South Park.

I try not to be offended about show whose sole purpose seems to be to offend people. South Park is very hit/miss on this, there are a few Ms Garrison episodes I just don't care for, but some of them (the 300 parody, and the one with Dawkins) are hilarious.

I haven't heard anyone complain about Venture Brothers, which does the same thing. Is it just that the show is less well known?

I take it as it's it's a show and nothing more. I am who I am and not something some show says I am.
Scott Kelley: You guys are here on a good day.
Zak Bagans: What's that suppost to mean?
Scott Kelley: The building will talk to you today."

My only qualm was it wasn't funny

I don't get it, it's fine to be offensive to every group of people on the planet but the second they attack something that applies to you (a generic you, not just the OP) then they've gone too far?

I agree

That's so true.

There have been times when watching Family Guy that I will laugh at them making fun of someone and then I'll think about it and it will seem to be cruel and not funny at all.  I don't know what that says about me.

I wholeheartedly agree with a thing Sean Lock says one what of his standups

"The only time you should be offended by what's on television is if you're watching the news and someone personally calls you a *%@&"

I thought that episode was offensive and not very funny, but I wasn't going to say anything because the answer to complaining about Family Guy is always going to to be along the lines of the responses you got.

I love family guy but havn't seen the episode that you are on about, i've got a rule that I live by "If you can't laugh at yourself you shouldn't laugh at others"

Laughter is a very good way of dealing with things outside your comfort zone, my close male friends were unsure about joking about my upcoming transition but I pointed out that we make fun of everything else about each other & as long as nothing is said in spite then i'll be laughing along.
This laid back attitude has helped them to accept things & ever since I adopted this rule my life has been less of a battle.

I'm not telling anyone that they shouldn't find things offensive but given the pressures we deal with in either keeping things hidden or trying to be accepted it's not suprising that we can get a bit touchy & easy to offend

I've just watched an episode of Sherlock Holmes where he was hired by a dowerger dutchess to investigate some 'foreign' woman who had managed to bewitch her son, the Duke of something, claiming to be a lady from a distinguished family, rich and well connected.

Holmes managed to expose her as the ilegitmate daughter of a gypsy. The story ended with her being carted off to her just deserts or something.

I found that infinately more offensive than anything Family Guy could turn up with.

People don't meet us every day.  Maybe he was parodying societal overreaction.

I thought the Family Guy episode was ignorantly done and not very clever, but I don't mean to say it was so bad you should avoid it or boycott the show or anything. It's still Family Guy. If you check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Family_Guy_episodes you can see who wrote and directed which episodes. I don't think Devanney is one of the better writers.

I too am now so pissed. The offense that is Family Guy just went to far in a TBS repeat. The Jesus Hour or whatever it was episode.

Thank God they didn't mock Muhammad. They would have a fatwa issued against them in that case.

Not according to the Islamist types. Crap, they where out to a Dutch cartoonist and just last week firebombed a French newsmagazine.
