Serious Question

First of all this question is not out of prurient interest but is a question my SO asked me the other night and I didn't have the answer.  OK, with HRT we know that certain "functions" cease functioning after a while and I know that many welcome that.  However, Dee's question was, does Viagra, Cialis, etc. work for someone undergoing HRT as it will for someone who has lost function due to age, illness or the like?  I told her I didn't see why it wouldn't but I didn't know for sure.  I think she had the question due to watching something on Discovery with people in transition and then a commercial came on for Cialis.

I appreciate any input anyone can provide and if you don't want to post it here, send me a message.

Thanks,
Bev

If your takeing spiro and certian other T blockers adding viagra or anything like that could be EXTREEMLY HARMFUL even fatal.... so its a bad idea, but if you really want to check it out ask your doctor....

I can tell you from my own experiance that I didnt loose any function of "that" with HRT... The random attentions stopped, and it did eventualy become alittle more difficult to get things going... But if your partner understands the necicities of foreplay you'll do just fine...

Just like the Myth that an orchi will keep you from performing, HRT totaly killing your sexual functionality is also a myth... the brain is your primary sexual organ and so long as you have feelings for your partner, and they are properly attentive, you'll do just fine....

Just remember, if you dont use it, you loose it... so be careful if you want to keep function and dont go long periods with out activity....  trust me when I say it can be extreemly painful when you get around to it.  Hope that helps.... if you want more info feel free to come into chat or PM me through the forums.

Woah! That cocktail sounds like a one way trip.  My advice is to ask a doctor.

This is true, after I transitioned I put off stiring that pot for a long long time, it was always tommorow, next week or some time next month seeing as I don't need to.

I finally got around to it after about 4.5 months of HRT it was a horrid experience it hurt allot and the orgasm that came from it was pathetic and it took a bloody age to do, if you're going to be sexually active on a regular basis it'll be fine, just if you leave it dormant due to hatred for the organ or for whatever reason it's going to shrivel up and die, which is a bad thing if you're planning to be orgasmic after GRS from what I hear.

I even have a genital abnormality which is caused by lack of use it's that bad :-\.

Thanks ladies.  I'll pass that on to Miss Dee.  The question came out of left field and, like I said, I had no answer for her.

Oh, I meant to add:

Thanks Lynn but the only medication I'm taking to lower anything is Zocor for my cholesterol.  LOL

I have run across a couple of people who decided, due to their marriage, to get their original equipment in working order.  Basically they went to a really good endoc who kept them on the low end of the meds and neither had any problems.  ;)

And yet, I didn't do anything with IT until my mid-20s. Honest, never, not once (though dreams of course took care of things sometimes while I was unconscious, darn it). And yet, it seemed to work fine when I got around to it. Nothing fell off or anything through 20ish years of neglect.

But geez, now it's been 7 months of HRT, and at least a year since... you know... you're scaring me. Which makes me not wanna exercise it (aside from other reasons). Which makes me put it off. Which... you get the idea :(

The condition in question doesn't happen to everyone and I suspect it was to do with my lack of virilisation just as much as much as lack of use, basically down there I look about the same as an 8 year old it never grew considerably and the foreskin did not seperate and retractable. What I gain in passability I loose in GRS material I suppose. but anyway, it still shriveled up and what little function I did have went right out of the window, it was possible to get things starting but it was a huge amount of effort akin to what I post op people put in the first time they orgasm.

One thing I feel one needs to get over though is getting wound up in who hates their penis more arguments, I dislike the organ intensely but if I have to fire things up every now and again to maintain functionality then so be it, I don't want be numb post op.

I fire things up if I'm in the right mood, but it doesn't happen that often.  Maybe once or twice a month.  :-\

I couldn't help but laugh at that!

Heavens, I never really gave much thought to functionality after HRT.  I always assumed it'd just sort of shrivel up and there'd be nothing I can do about it.  It's nice to know that if for some reason I wanted to...  well, use it, I could.  Until judgement day, of course.

As for staying on topic, I don't know about mixing up all those pills.  Sounds like a real biological hazard to me.  I wouldn't want to do that to myself.  Just be careful.  This stuff is serious.

Thanks Blair.  Just to set the record straight (if anything around here is straight  ;) ) this really was a question asked by my wife.  I don't have any plans for HRT.  But they are wise words for anyone who might be thinking about mixing that cocktail.

I'm quite serious, though.  Pills and hormones and things have always given me pause.  This is your body and mind, after all.  We have to be gentle to it, as I don't believe we have the technology to become awesome cyborgs yet (with lasers.)

If you're happy with the way things are working for you now, well, tell your wife just that!  If not, baby steps.  Right?
