I got a script for 1 month of patches. The clinic I go to has a pharmacy which gives me an excellent discount but they were out of patches. So, I decided to use my prescription to further my knowledge and to my surprise, I learned quite a bit.

I went to the nearest pharmacy about a block away to see how much one month of patches would cost. I have no insurance.

My first stop was a CVS. They looked if up and said it was expensive. The pharmacist tried to find the generic but there isn't one. It was $325 for the month. I told the pharmacist "no thanks" and left. I walked another block to a Duene Reed where I was quoted $350. Then another pharmacy said $400. So...if you want to know the cost of patches...it ends up being a little over $10 a day. My cost per day when I got my T from a regular pharmacy was around $1.14. Huge difference.

here they don't prescribe the patches at all (i think the reasoning was that they aren't effective enough to bring the initial changes?). I'm on the gel, which should be cheaper than the patches?

Gel and patches are about the same absorption. Patches are less mess. You don't have to wait for it to dry Ans can't accidentally give somebody T.
