http://www.thecrimson.com/article/2011/11/17/Health-Lower-Surgery/The Harvard University Health Group Plan and the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care will cover lower surgery for gender reassignment beginning on Jan. 1 for faculty and staff and Aug. 1 for students.
The new policy was communicated in an email from Trans Task Force co-chair Jia Hui Lee Thursday to the TTF community, Harvard College Queer Students and Allies, and Radcliffe Union of Students of the policy change.
The University modified their health care plan last year to cover top surgery, including breast augmentation and mastectomies, for "individuals struggling with serious gender identity issues." The change in coverage took effect Aug. 8, 2010.
