Does T affect vision?

This is my main worry about testosterone, I don't particularly care about any other side effects - but I'm short-sighted and my hobby is photography so this is the main reason I'm hesitant about HRT.

I've read some FTMs mention their eyesight got slightly worse when starting T, and my vision went down dramatically during puberty so I was wondering is there any scientific evidence to back this up. Even if not T itself - your hormonal system adjusting to T and affecting vision.

From all the websites I have read on FTM HRT, I have never seen this listed as possible downsides to taking testosterone. I'm sure there are plenty of trans-guy photographers anyway. Do you already wear glasses or are close to being legally blind? This is the only reason I could see possible vision impairment being a huge issue.

I've had people tell me it made it harder for them to focus their eyes at first, but just now when I tried doing pubmed and google scholar searches and stuff, I got distracted by its effects on visual brain processing, which is slightly different, and on baby chickens getting tunnel vision and stuff.

I'm way too sleepy, but I'm kinda curious about this as well. I'll try to get back to it.

I wondered the same thing.

My prescription went from -16 to -18 after starting T. But at the exact same time my identical twin sister did too and she was pregnant. So it is hard to say if it is from a hormonal imbalance or if it was going to happen anyway since with high myopia it can get worse from adolescence to early twenties.

I'm a trans man and a photographer. I changed my prescription once since starting T(it had been 2years since I saw my eye doc). I daw a sort of double vision in one eye, my eyebrows and lids sag, and I don't have much peripheral vision...so I will be going to a neurological ophthalmologist when I get health insurance.

I think my vision problems are unrelated to testosterone.

Before I started T I had glasses but never wore them unless I was doing anything especially long-distance (driving etc) and I was tired. I didn't really need them to be able to see and was legally allowed to drive without them.

Now I have to wear glasses all day every day (and different prescription) to be able to see. My eyesight has definitely worsened over the two years I have been on T. Obviously I can't say whether or not this is in direct relation to taking Testosterone but I have thought about it before I saw this post. It could just be coincidence.

Yeah, I'm really wondering about this too. It would suck so much, I already have extremely horrible eye-sight, and I was actually thinking of getting surgery to fix it, which is apparently most effective after puberty. But I'm thinking of postponing it after a few years on T instead?

I wish there was more information on this subject.
