I'm Kael. 23 y/o, ftm trans and pre-everything. I'm a fairly awkward and private person so this is really huge for me to post on any sort of forum.

I got breasts when I was around 11 years old. At that point I felt weird in my own body- but my mom had assured me that the feeling I had was merely because I was 'blossoming' earlier than other girls. Long story short; I always assumed that I was going to be stuck in this body forever. I've let my own insecurities and the opinions of other people keep me from dressing and proceeding with transition.

Essentially, I'm new to this. I've done a lot of reading on the internet and lurking on forums but I feel that I still have a long way to go.

Hey Kael! :) I'm ftm too and this site has helped me out so much. There's lots of advice about passing, figuring things out, and other ftm-related stuff. And I wouldn't worry about being awkward, the people here are really nice.

As for letting other people get in the way of you transitioning....you won't ever get anywhere if you worry about other people. There's some quote that goes like, "Those who matter don't mind, and those who mind don't matter." I know a boy's haircut is hardly anything compared to hormones or anything like that, but a couple days ago I got one. At first, I didn't want to, because I thought,"Oh, well my dad may not let me, and my mom may not like it and..." but once I got it, I felt awesome. XD You can't let yourself get pushed around, because if it's about what they want you to be, you won't be happy. :/

welcome to the forum! :D

Oh, I believe you. Simple things do wonders. I recently got a men's haircut. I really didn't want to get one either- I felt like I would look odd or something. But I'm so glad I did. It's changed the way I look at myself x100. I still have my own insecurities and I only recently came out at work (which I never would have done. But the company has a very strict anti-discrimination policy that protects trans).

Anyway, thanks for the welcome. :>

Hi Kael, it's nice to meet you! As the others have stated, you can't be who others want you to be. You have to be you. Now, off to the mancave with you and have fun. See you around, hugs, Tracey
