Thanks for your commitment and convictions on such matters Zythyra,
It's not until you meet people such as Wendy, do you realise, just how widespread this issue of transgender is. As I mentioned in a previous thread; those of us that have already, "raised our hands," are really only the tip of the iceberg.
It's time the medical fraternity took the issue of gender identity firmly under their wing and responsibly administered the correct evaluation of each individuals relative position. Surely with the amount of scientific medical research that has been undertaken to date, genetic markers can identify people in need of further evaluation. It's not rocket science.
This archaic method of establishing your fundamental existence at birth by a slap on the bum , to induce unassisted breathing and looking at what's between your legs to assign a potential life of grief without any further professional follow through is tantamount to CRIMINAL NEGLECT.
We all know what's between our legs does NOT automatically equate to what's between our ears. Far from it!!
I'm absolutely confident, that if the public actuaries put a price on the cost to society of the man hours lost; the damage caused by aggression/suicide/crime related violence; health and mental issues that are gender variant related; the medical fraternity would have systems and procedures in place to identify gender variations so quickly, your head would spin.
What are your thoughts? If you had been flagged at birth or shortly afterwards as a person of "gender interest" for further evaluation; would that have made your journey any easier?
Love. Catherine.
