At what age did you transition?

Regarding selfmedication in transgendered children, it is not as simple as commentating the issue with "oh but that's dangerous, big no-no!".
For a transgendered child, puberty can be extremely traumatic, and, as some here probably already knows, over 40% of transgenders have tried or done suicide before or during transition.
This number would be drastically lower if medication had been more avaible- and not any least pre-pubertaly avaible- for those that took to suicide.

A transgender would gladly much rather take the risks with selfmedicating in time to avoid the pubertal changes, than to live them through only to "have to" top themselves later.

The answer is proper medical care not recklessly administering dangerous drugs to children with no medical checks, example im gonna put forward is myself, if i had self medicated at the age of 14 i would have probably died, i had a serious liver condition i didnt know about at the time that nearly killed me on its own, if you add hormones to that i would have been a gonner for sure. I remember being a young teen living with dysphoria and of course its horrible but considering there are properly trained gender specialists all over the world and even some properly certified specialists available over the internet that can authorise HRT in a properly monitered manner (obviously check credentials).

A part of it is "making sure you arent a crossdresser" based and im not suggesting that anyone here is or isnt anything but the parts on the medical process and risks i found informative when i was looking into HRT.

At the end of the day you should at least get regular blood tests. Ill say no more on the matter.

I'm going to try to be very careful and mindful of safety and forum rules, but I don't think any of us should dismiss another person's self-care decisions out of hand. Harm reduction might be a better focus for scrutiny.

I still haven't had labiaplasty yet...I don't even know if I'm going to, so I guess I'm pretty much done with physical transition.

Having the surgery at the age of 18 was a good time, you could then have a family and boyfriend in the future. Also you can forget your past. i wished i could start my hormone earlier. I was not as brave as you.

I cant believe ive been full time for 20 months now, I was so terrified of going full time without hormones and now im still not on them yet but ive realised my voice needs changing to help me "pass" more than anything the hormones can do. Its amazing how your perspective can change! I think im gonna get som proffessional help with my voice i just dont seem to be able to get it right on my own
