I moved in to a new house in september. It has been one massive problem after another.

First the boiler blew, and we went a whole month without hot water or heating. Then the place needed rewiring and was apparently horribly dangerous, the electrician we got out said the place was "a shambles"

There's damp and mould everywhere

The roof has holes in and the roofer has been "on his way" for the past god knows how long.

There's a window that isn't fitted properly and we have to put towels down every time it rains.

Plus a ton of cosmetic problems like cracks all over the place and holes in the doors and stains on carpets and stuff like that.

I lived 200 miles away when we got this place - my sister did the viewing and signed all the papers and told me everything was hunky dory...the cosmetic problems aren't a big deal, and I can't really blame her for not noticing the other problems. I blame the estate agent for not doing a proper inspection.

Then yesterday a bloke turns up and says he's here to do an inspection, I was like whatever, and let him get on with it.

Today I get a call saying the inspection shows that we have punched holes through a bunch of the doors and they will be taking our deposit to pay for it. My reaction was to burst out laughing and ask them if they were joking. It has to be a freakin joke, I just do not believe the audacity of it.

The biggest hole in the door is hidden behind a poster that we have never bothered to move - it's a disney princess poster and just happened to be on the door for the room I chose for my daughter, so I left it. The inventory shows this poster on the door and obviously not the big ass hole behind it. The inspection guy just happened to move said poster when he got here, revealing a hole I am now being blamed for.

I have been set up. -_-

It takes a certain type of personality to be a real estate person. :(

When I took an owner to small claims tribunal they we were awarded half of what the owner wanted from us. They typically split the difference. So don't back down on anything because whatever they are claiming you owe them you'll get half of that.

Grrrr Real estate people

Ever since I started renting through estate agents rather than just knowing somebody who knows somebody sort of thing it's been problem after problem.  I only just got my deposit back from the last place, they just blatantly ignored and avoided me. Like I'm going to just get bored and give up on 500 quid? Not bloody likely. Ended up having to take it to the dispute service.

Drives me crazy it does, they act like they are doing people a favour by letting them live in these houses. Without tenants there would be no income; so I don't understand why they feel they can just crap all over everyone.
