Link Another resident, Ross Herman who supported Stanton, accused the commission of convicting the manager in a "kangaroo court inquisition ... a rush to judgment" and said those voting to fire Stanton "caved in to a mob mentality."
City Attorney Alan Zimmet said that if Stanton doesn't ask for a public hearing, the commission could vote at any time to finalize his termination. If Stanton asks for a hearing, though, it would have to be held within 30 days and would then be followed by commission action.
Appearing on local television, Stanton has repeatedly said he didn't know if he would seek a public hearing.
"If there is one, it will be educational," he said. "It will focus on educating people about transgender issues and how this would affect the city."
