Someone else mentioned the high school prom.... god, those kids are lucky nowadays.. I am a teacher and my school permits gay/lesbian kids to take same-sex dates to the proms, as well as being able to dress as the opposite sex.

There weren't very many open LGBT students at my school. One girl wore a tux and brought her girlfriend to prom. But that was about it.

Well I like to believe if I was a girl from the start, I'd have more friends and socially function more properly.

My school is very LGBT-friendly. I am fortunate to be working in such an environment and have a gay supervisor, so that enabled me to transition in the open.
