i'm from a big family and i live about 800 miles away for school. i have chosen to keep my desire to transition from my parents until i am completely financially independent (i am 23yrs but they co-signed one of my loans) but i have two brothers ( one 17 and one 19yr old) who i am very close and i feel like i should tell them the truth but i'm not sure how to go about it.

Hi Tristan,

Difficult place to be in. I know the feeling well. I guess you know your brothers better than anyone else, and being 800 miles from them makes it even harder. This type of discussion is best conducted face to face so everyone is able to read your emotional state and get a real feel of how you feel about yourself, and vise versa.

What I've found along my journey is, situations present themselves at the appropriate time and place, generally not according to my needs or desires. I've since learnt to 'listen' to circumstances around you and be proactive to the moment. In other words, put telling your brothers on hold until the circumstance present themselves. It may be a simple fact that you, or they are not in the right mind space to process your news.

Keep moving forward and create your destiny, and keep in touch and let us know how you are coping. In the meantime, be safe, well and happy.
Lotsa huggs
Catherine
