i noticed that i'm feeling cravings for food even when i'm not really hungry, but just mouthwatering feeling of "i want to eat something!" so, is it bad to give into some of these food cravings. i heard that since it's a sex hormone, it's basically going through a new puberty, so things like that will happen, but obviously estrogen is a fatty hormone, so i worry about gaining weight. i've been doing aerobics, so it makes me feel like it's not the end of the world if i have a little something extra. i try to avoid snacking at all costs. mainly, i want to stick to the three meals a day, but obviously i need to treat myself every now and then.

I am snacking too much.

RuPaul would say I was a fattie now and I should go hang out with a ->-bleeped-<- hag.

Yeah cravings for sweets mostly. I've reserved one day on the weekend (it's tonight!) to indulge myself with sweets then it's back to my low cal diet.  :'(

Could be something making you feel like you need to eat. I know that when i'm depressed i eat alot to try and make myself feel better and when i'm really bored i get the urge to eat.  ???

Same here.  Aarrgg! So far, I've successfully banned soda pop and fruit drinks from the house though.

My appetite has decreased, actually. I'm eating fast food nearly every day and I've lost a few lbs.

Mainly carbs and sweets for me. Bread, cookies, cake, etc. Never been much of a chocolate fan, but a little every now and again is tastier now than before HRT. I do also eat much less now overall, then pre-HRT. Your metabolism does slow down on HRT.

Estrogen will cause you to gain weight, if you sit around all day on a sofa eating whatever you want and not exercising. I've been on HRT for 1.5 years, and I eat pretty much whatever I want... but in moderation, portion control is key, and I work out a lot. Pretty much 6 days a week, 2 hours a day. I'm a size 6 in A & F jeans... so no complaints here.  ;D

I eat what I want, when I want and still find it hard to keep weight on. My metabolism is fast and I am pretty much moving around constantly at work.  Right now I'm around 138 lbs, but want to be about 150-155 lbs as I was before I started working again.

i get boredom eating a lot. it's a hard habit to get out of. when i get random food cravings i try to just distract myself with something else. i also try to stick with a ~1500 cals+somewhat low carbs diet, seems to work ok for me, i bounce between 98lbs and 110lbs (5'6).

The biggest effect estrogen had on my eating habits is craving really good chocolate (aka NOT Hershey's! lol ). I've haven't been a chocoholic for a good 20-30 years. Now I can knock off a giant sized bar in one evening if I let myself.

I've always been and still am a foodaholic. Like a dog I can eat till I get sick. The mouth wants more even though the tummy is say "No More!". My secret to keeping the pounds off that I dropped (100 lbs) is portion control, and delayed gratification. I eat what I want and hardly deny myself what I enjoy. Over time my tastes or preferences have also changed. In the past it was meat and potatoes, or pizza, or pasta, and I'll be more than satisfied. Now a big salad or a pile of veggies with meat as flavoring is treat. OK not as much of a treat as a pepperoni & onion pizza  ;D

I get food cravings on and off.  My appetite fluctuates tremendously; one day I'll be hungry all day long no matter how much I eat, and the next day a simple salad satisfies me for hours at a time.  However, I have never had cravings for sweets, in fact my ability to enjoy sweets has decreased significantly.  I tend to crave bread and fruit the most.  I have lost nearly 10 pounds since beginning HRT, which is not good as I weigh practically nothing now.  Regardless, I eat what I want (which is typically healthy food anyway) and exercise regularly.

I've been craving fatty foods ever since I went on hormones. Lately I had a gut bug, which conveniently put me off greasy foods for a while :), but I'm till noticing that thing where I eat, and then my body thinks I'm still hungry. And I think my metabolism's slowed down on hormones, too, so I have to be more careful about getting enough roughage and so on.

I'm also craving food all the time! And now, during the holidays, it's all around me! Guess I'll make the usual new year's resolution... loose weight.

My appetite has gone WAY up since starting HRT! I used to barely eat at all, and I've been consistently eating 1,000 calories at breakfast alone! All day, all I want to do is munch on something.

I'm now hungry ALL the time :(  even when I've just had a meal I start getting hunger pains again its so annoying and I'm just so down about it because I just have to look at food to put weight on never mind the actual eating :(

Pretty much like most girls on here, I too have huge cravings. I gained 20 lbs  when I increased my dose. It came on like super quick, not even knowing. I just had to tough it up, chewing gum helps (5 calories). And usually large lunches and small dinners. I also start thinking like the movie "Gremlins" where you don't eat after 12, well its 9ish for me.

But its so hard. lol.
