10 states and D.C. offer gender identity protection

According to Human Rights Campaign, 10 states offer transgender protections for state employees: California, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Washington, as well as the District of Columbia.

There are also 92 city and county governments that have gender identity protections for their employees, including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Key West and San Francisco.
