During the summer my wife told my Aunt about me being TG while visiting in the DC suburbs. The news of the second or third attack came on the TV just after and I think I really made things sink in for her. We have gay and lesbian family members but trans was never something anyone thought of. (except me). I will be in downtown DC this weekend. The tourist areas are much different than the outlying areas. I worked downtown years ago and the city can go from extremely safe to scare as hell in a couple of blocks. So if you visit keep an eye on where you are.
