I didn't really know where to put this so I figured here would do.

Ok this may sound weird to some of you but I personally find it very reassuring the idea that we are not the centre of the universe. I am an Atheist and what I know of religions I would be in no hurry to emulate if that makes sense.

The idea that we are divine and "chosen" or "annointed" as special is alien to me, I can't wrap my head around why people are so convinced of this. On top of that I don't understand how we can all be made in the image of an immaculate Creator and be so far from perfect. Human nature is animal nature, there is no difference. The idea that we are better than every other "flawed" species on this planet simply because we are! makes no sense.

To relate this to the title I am much more comforted by the thought that nothing "ordains" the negative aspects of human nature, the petty hatred and violence, or the positive aspects, the love and comradarie in crisis, and that in the grand scheme of the Universe we don't matter anymore than a fly.

The thought that Human nature is somehow the pinnacle of existence and as good as anything ever can be is frightening. There is incredible arrogance in the belief that we as a species are any more "special" than all others. Sorry if I offended you but that is my view.

an Atheist is someone who cannot understand anything they see as they're nothing but an animal and can have no idea of anything but  food/shelter/procreation.

the fact that you can sit and ruminate about things outside these three essentials show you're above all animal life and are just in denial from ignorance of your own descent from Adam and Eve - cousin.    ;)

A Troll (internet breed) - Is someone who can fathom the tone and purpose of a post in a forum yet chooses to take a contrary tone or begin an overly aggressive/passive aggressive argument for their own amusement. Operating under the assumption that no other parties in the argument can see through the incendiary comments to the real purpose of incitement.

If it was not your intention to reduce this thread (resurrect this thread) into an argument as opposed to a discussion of ideologies then I would firmly suggest you do not simply dismiss the opposing view to your own as curtly and as condescendingly. I have absolutely no problem with people of any religion in the world, with the exception of Scientologists but that is another story. However intolerance and an unwillingness to discuss the matters from a reasonably objective standpoint is irksome to me.

You may believe what you wish, as may we all, but I will thank you not to preach to me. I have thought much about my own beliefs in the past and I resent the argument you pose that I "cannot understand anything" simply because I do not share your chosen faith system.

If I have misunderstood the nature of your comment (I do not believe I have) then I apologise but if I am correct then I would kindly thank you to take this opportunity to reflect upon your words and consider how it would feel were the shoe on the other foot.

Please tell me you see how your statement was not a mere fact and was actually offensive?
