I'm a regular visitor to PostSecret.
http://www.postsecret.com/ If you think that's naff then I fine. Occasionally, you can find a gem in there and it doesn't take very long.
Also, I don't have a smart phone, don't own any apps and wouldn't know what to do with one if I did.
But the announcement that the PostSecret App was being discontinued was sad, in that it does bring pleasure to some, but positive in another way.
The announcement doesn't give actual user figures, but does claim that 30,000 posts were being made a day. It also says that fewer than 1% were abusive, but that this 1% had resulted in the decision to discontinue the app.
Then I read a post that said, I truely believe that this app is a prime example of why we can't govern ourselves.
Now I won't argue with the sentiment. I accept the need for government but also the benefits of democracy. But this app had the potential to send posts to huge numbers. If only 1% were abusing it, that says a lot for humans.
Sad though the news is, it is still positive.
Most people, almost everyone, is essentially decent, honest and well meaning.
