My Perfect Requiem

So, I told my parents that I'm trans last week. They took the news surprisingly well, but it left me thinking about the future. Now that I'm telling more people about who I am, where do I go from here? My parents want me to see a therapist, a FTM friend suggested a youth club for Trans people and my closest friend wants me to start cross dressing. I don't know what I want, and I'd appreciate any advice that anyone has to offer...

Welcome!

It's great that you have the support of friends and family, that's a great start. Don't let others rush you into things, but do try out different things and see how it feels. Everyone approaches transition differently, there is no sure way that works for everyone. Do what feels right for you. You have to figure out what is most important to you, therapists and support groups can help a great deal to find your way, and accepting friends and family can help you going through transition.

You have to do what is comfortable for YOU. Peer pressure is real no matter what age group you are in. Always remember it is your life, not someone else's.

I found that a TG group can be a life changing experience. No matter how much I knew on an intellectual level, I was blown away during my first ever group meeting. Just be careful about peer pressure there. While the experiences shared by others whose stories are much like yours are immensely beneficial, a therapist who is experienced in dealing with the questions and issues a trans person faces is also useful to get you think about and look at things in ways you just might not on your own.

Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it! I'm definitely going to try the support group and see if I can find an appropriate therapist, I'm bored of sitting back and expecting things to work out, it's time to make a change!
