Are you left or right handed?

I'm about as left as left handed gets. My Mom says that when I was a baby she knew right away because I'd hold everything with my left hand and if something were put in my left I'd switch it. Only thing I do that's actually right handed is use a computer mouse.

I'm a lefty, but will very rarely use my right hand.

I have five aunts, two maternal and three paternal. Though I'm the only child my parents had, I was the second of my moms kids.

No maternal aunts though, my mother was an only child. Something interesting about the original article struck me though. I doubt it has any significance to anything, but:

My mother had a miscarriage with a daughter before giving birth to me.

Anyway. I'm pretty sure my left handedness skipped a generation. My mother was right handed, but my grandmother was left handed. My mother always said I was a lot like my grandmother. I never really knew her though, she died when I was young.

Anthropological studies have shown that, among stone tool-making pre-historic cultures, the frequency of left-handed strikes on the tools was about equal to right-handed strikes.

This could lead to the conclusion our ancestors were ambidextrous, or more likely, there were about as many lefties as righties.

But today, about 5/6ths of the human population are right-handed.  Does this mean that Nature has selected against lefties?

Left-handedness has been associated with evil for plenty of folks. The word 'sinister' is derived from the Latin word sinistra, which means 'left'. Wouldn't surprise me if left handed people were treated much the same as witches and put to death for their wicked lefty ways. Leaving the way clear for right handed people to take over the world!

I'm left-handed and so is my Dad, but we are the only two in our immediate family who are. Um, he's not trans, lol.
