hi guys im wondering if as a minor if getting a breast reduction/super breast reduction just to help ease the dysphora, relive my back pain, and prevent the further development of my scoliosis. my chesticsls are not big they are about a B I think. how old do you need to be to have a breast reduction? how much will/can the doctor reduce them to? do you think it's worth it? I would have to wait around 2 years to get top surgery or more if I can't afford it.

I was 15 when i almost got one. Every surgeon I went to didn't care about my age. However I'm a DDD. No one would take me under a full C or low D. Because it wouldn't be sexy. I saw about 5 surgeons.

If you are past puberty and have a curve of less than 30 degrees, your scoliosis will not progress anywhere near fast enough that removing a pound or two of boob will affect.  As for the reduction, I'd avoid it.  You'll have twice the recovery time, twice the scarring, twice the expense and a boatload of disappointment.  Most insurance companies won't pay for reduction smaller than a C, so the likelihood of your being approved in the first place is minimal.  There are tons of ways to save up for surgery!  As far as surgeries go, it's incredibly affordable.  Don't' be discouraged and put whatever you can away as often as you can... you'll get there eventually.

I'm a DD and my insurance wouldn't cover it. I have back, neck, and shoulder pain, but no skin irritations or grooves in my shoulders from bra straps. The surgeon said she usually made her clients C cups, but could make me a B. She sounded like she wouldn't want to go smaller. I'd advise just waiting for top surgery. I doubt you'd be able to get insurance coverage for reduction of a B cup, and breast reduction in my area can easily cost more than top surgery. The surgeon I saw was $800 more than the local top surgeon I'm seeing, and $2500 more than Dr. Garramone.

I wonder at a B if you would qualify. I'm a DDD and then they MIGHT do one on me. It depends on if my insurance sees it as medically necessary. It depends on your insurance and if you can pay for it. I don't know about being a minor, though. They might want to wait until your breasts are done growing.

I know some doctors will do chest reconstruction and charge it to your insurance as a breast reduction. You'd have to investigate it, but I don't see why not. I can't really comment on getting a breast reduction prior to top surgery as it's something I know nothing about.

This be fraud, yo.  Not sure what surgeon would willingly put their ability to collect insurance monies and their license on the line to hook someone up like this.  If one were willing, I can't say I'd be too confident in their overall judgement.
