Hi guys

I decided new years was as good a time as any to come out at work. I started T awhile ago but didn't tell anyone outside of my immediate
family and best friends about myself and recently I've been getting the odd puzzled look when I talk lol.

Basically, I'm scheduled to transfer to a new depot in February so I was just going to stay on the down low at my current workplace and brush
off any enquiries but I've rethought that what with changes being noticable now, and the fact that I will still see a lot of my current coworkers
out on the road and at union rallys etc.

So yesterday I went to Officeworks and got 350 photocopies of my "coming out" note. I was the last one at work last night so I went around
everyone's locker and gave them a copy - all that folding ugh! Then I did the mature thing and ran away on holiday for 2 weeks to give the
dust time to settle :D

I left my email so they can talk to me about it, and I've already gotten a few SMS' from friends expressing their support, so far so good - today's
a public holiday though so not many people at work, we'll see how it goes when everyone goes in tomorrow.

Oh, that's awesome! :D  I hope all goes well for you.
good idea, too.  someday I'll have to come out at work as well, and that sounds like a good way to do it.

Congrats.  Good luck man.

I came out at work shortly after starting to come out, but I was really good friends with my manager at the time so it was a little different.  I work in a residence home though and switched homes recently.  I came out to my manager and her boss when they called to offer me the position because the only thing holding up the process was waiting for this new position.  I lucked out and they were both very supportive which I think helped the other staff be supportive from the start.

Thanks for your well wishes guys!

It's been 4 days now and so far I have received mostly positive feedback, with one negative email that was basically "bugger off and dont come near me" but more politely worded. That was from an older guy I haven't had much to do with and tbh the older workers were the ones I thought would be most likely to have issues so I'm not really surprised.

But at the very least I'll still have my friends who've all been very positive :)

The next step: telling my Dad  :o Mum knows and fully supports me, but Dad's distanced himself from everyone (including his siblings) since getting remarried, so catching up with him may be hard to arrange.
