Considering that we can marry and that Massachusetts is one of the best places to live in the country if you are lesbian or gay (transgender is another matter altogether), it may sound paranoid, petty or both to harp on the continued exclusion of gay people from the St. Patrick's Day parade — and all that it represents. But I suppose some thought it was petty when African Americans complained about having to give up their seats on Montgomery city busses when white people wanted to sit in them. After all, what did they have to complain about? They were getting a ride, right
