The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) has published the 2012 Corporate Equality Index (CEI).  This is their annual report as to how companies fare with LGBT rights and medical coverage.

If you click on the CEI link it will open the pdf file that has all the companies listed.  The HRC link will go to the web page that has the 2012 CEI information.

In 2008, the year I transitioned and later lost my job, the parent company of the company I worked for was not listed.  This year they have a rating of 15 out of 100.  That's progress!  ::)

But in 2011 they had a 30 rating.

So much for progress.

My company was 100 in 2010 but is 85 in 2011 and 2012, so better than some.

It's interesting... There are companies on that list that have their home office in states where transgender protections are written into law but they did not report they offer transgender protections.

Looking just at the first page of the alphabetical list, I found six (6) companies like that, two (2) of them in Illinois where TG protections went into law in 2006.  That just shows you how effective these laws really are.  If they are not enforced, they are pretty much useless.

Mine was 100 in 2011 and is now 85 in 2012. In 2012 it looks like there are no tg benefits at my company, in 2011 they covered therapy and time off after surgery. The list I saw last year had a section for tg and listed what was covered ie: surgery/hormones/therapy.

Yeah, it kinda sucks there are less categories for TGs in the new CEI.  This time around all you have to do is offer one TG related health care coverage and they don't specify which one that is.  So a company could say they pay for therapy and get the points.  TS people don't need GI specific therapy coverage, they need medical coverage.
