I've recently started learning Irish Step Dance.  I love it because it seems to be such a strong masculine type of dance.  Although girls do it too, obviously, but no one can beat Michael Flatley!

It's really good for lower body strength and tightens up those hips nicely.  Plus it is so much fun to do.  I've only just started and so far so good.

I just have to remember to be patient with myself as I am learning.   So are there any other dancers about?

Cool, step dancing looks like a lot of fun.  I've never tried it, but I have a few friends who are in to it.  I dance a few times a week, but mostly salsa, blues, and tango.  It's a good addiction, and yeah you're going to have fantastic legs after a while.  :)
Oh I'm a lucky man to count on both hands the ones I love

My grandmother started a dance school in the basement of her house when my mom was a kid. My mom and aunt took it over and the school stayed open for 45 years. Of course that meant I started tap and ballet when I was 3. I performed in dance recitals every rear for 16 years and have done tap ballet point jazz  lyrical hip hop and Irish step, both hard and soft shoe.  Tap and hardshoe were my favorites and I stuck with those the longest an on my college dance team.

I keep saying I'm going to start taking tap classes again but work and laziness keep getting in the way.

And to squirrel - be careful with the hitch kicks and heel clicks. It really REALLY. hurts when the heel of your shoe hits your ankle bone, especially when its the landing leg to a hitch kick.

I'm so jealous!  I've always wanted to learn how to do Irish Step Dancing.

I've been line dancing for almost 8 years now and I love it.  I don't always like the music, but the dancing itself is fun and we have a great bunch that dance together and have for years.  Us guys are SO out numbered though, lol.
