FTM here. It's hard to assess your own voice objectively it seems. I am thinking of taking voice coaching, because I am paranoid that my voice does not sound male enough. It would be nice to have some unbiased feedback so that I know if I should go for the voice coaching or not. I uploaded a sound clip of me reading the first thing I picked up on my desk. Please be brutally honest and let me know how I sound, approximate age, whether I sound male, or like an old woman who smokes too much, or a 14 year old, or whatever.

Here's the link to my voice clip. Green download button in the middle. You don't have to save, just run. Thanks in advance!

I listened and was thinking to myself, wow, if you were mtf you defenitely need voice therapy because it was sounding very male to me.
It's a bit of a complicated way to say that your voice sounds very good as a male, don't worry about that anymore.

I closed my eyes and listened, totally male. Do NOT be anxious about your voice anymore! As far as age, 20-30 is what age sounds like to me. But it's def a male voice.

Awesome. Thanks! Glad to know I don't sound like a teenager.

To me, it sounds androgynous. If someone told me it was male, I wouldn't be at all surprised or question it. If they said it was female, I'd probably think "oh yea.... I can see it....".

What I'm basically saying, as a male voice, I wouldn't question it at all, as a female voice, I'd believe it but I'd be surprised. Definitely more male than female, definitely don't think you need voice therapy.
