So, my therapist asked me to research the effects of testosterone on the mood and emotions. I have found a lot and I know the general outcomes. She asked me for specifics because on file I have bipolar disorder, which I don't believe I have and I knew it was going to make this whole process even more difficult.

I guess all I'm asking is if anyone knows anyone going through this that has bipolar disorder. I know it's a bit of a stretch but my "HW" is due next week. I have a lot of general research but I just wanted to know if I can hear it straight from someone.

Or if anyone knows, can my therapist not give my letter because I have this disorder?

And since I'm here, if anyone would like to share how their process with their gender therapist went/is going, I'd love to hear it. I think I'm doing it wrong

My immediate response is, what the hell is the therapist being paid for?!

In short, the therapist is there to guide you down the path that is best for you. If he/she does not feel you are psychologically ready to start hrt then she can withhold the letter.

That being said, I have known quite a few people with bipolar disorder. Both type I and II. It can be a tricky thing to diagnose when there are other things going on in the patients mind that can drastically impact mood, such as GID. If you do not feel you have bipolar disorder I suggest you discuss it with your therapist. Explain why you don't feel you have it, and provide some solid justification for your beliefs. This is just my opinion, it may not be the best course of action for you.

@Brooke , yeah I talked to her last week. I told her how I felt on everything and she explained herself better. And I feel way better too. Thanks for the advice.
