I just came across this book while doing some housecleaning:

It's evidently the real Sylvia Plath, but it's completely crap writing. Publishing standards for kids' books are pretty nonexistent. I like her anyway.

Also, by coincidence, we came across this picture today:

It's Sylvia Plath and her brother. When my daughter asked who it was, I said it's Sylvia Plath, she wrote some depressing but pretty poetry.

Lol my daughter said with complete conviction "Yeah. Her cat must have died."

Children always make me feel like such a pretentious and overcomplicated dick. ;D

I've never got around to reading her poetry, but The Bell Jar is an amazing and tender novel about madness and sanity and society. To be read when feeling strong. For me, there was always a nebulous genderqueer element to the story too, as the protagonist is somehow kicking out against the stereotypical girl expectations of her time.
