I'm curious if any of you girls remember a children's book that was about a little boy being a girl for a day. I was trying to find it on amazon. I would love to get it again. I remember reading it when I was a child. I wanna say the girl had freckles. I think one page of the book talked about hanging on monkey bars. It was about 10-12 pages long. large print. I'm 28 so I would say its about 15 years old.

Never heard of it but I would like to have one also. Hopefully someone will know what you are talking about. This is about like not knowing the name of a song. You spend years wanting to hear it again but no one knows the name of it for you to buy it for yourself. or you hear it ten years latter on the radio hoping to God they say the name of it. (pre-internet thought). Do you remember any of the words?  :)

You've just reminded me of a couple of unrelated books I had as a kid in which girls chose to be turned into boys for the day. One was a story in Rom-Bom-Bom And Other Stories, the other was in My Friend Mr Leakey.

Sorry I can't help you with that book but if you are looking for something with trans issues.

It's not a book but there is a great anime along those lines: http://myanimelist.net/anime/8426/Hourou_Musuko

"The story depicts a young boy named Shuuichi Nitori who wants to be a girl, and his friend Yoshino Takatsuki, a girl who wants to be a boy."

It's quite heartfelt and down to earth, and theres a love triangle that really got to me  :'(

I think I may have found it; published in 1993, but a bit longer than you say, but it makes sense, to be honest; Marvin Redpost: Is He a Girl?
Amazon has it for under $4 here, see if this is it; and I hope this is it. :)

Marvin Redpost is quite cool, but I think you mean Bill's New Frock by Anne Fine, which was also made into a tv movie. The book was one of my favourites as a kid.

Written in 1989 but just rereleased.
